May 2022 Championship Season

The weather gods smiled upon us for our May club day and it was great to see the the Geelong members and new locals come out and have a run including a bunch of juniors who stepped up a notch and surprised us all, these drivers will be a serious force very soon and will be mixing it up with the seniors.

We had a new race director at the helm to help with race registrations and running the timing system, thanks Codi!

Tamiya

Aaron Morris once again showed his dominance in the class taking a clean sweep ahead of Matt Durbidge, but it was the sisters Natalie and Charlie that had a great battle for 3rd but we couldn't split them so it was decided to be a tie.

1st- Aaron Morris

2nd- Matt Durbidge

3rd- Charlie and Natalie Dixon

Mini

Grant Davies was the man to beat from the get go, TQ’ing and running 17 laps for all of the finals. Paul Iverson wasnt too far behind him showing great speed with his mini that’s getting more dialed each time it hits the track while Matt Manser had early troubles but his car was getting faster each round and was pipped by 1 point.

1st- Grant Davies

2nd- Paul Iverson

3rd- Matt Manser

Kyosho

This class is growing in popularity all the time and its easy to to why with a control car the racing was super close all day with young gun junior Jaxon Durbidge taking 1st with Paul Iverson in 2nd and Grant Davies in 3rd

1st- Jaxon Durbidge

2nd- Paul Iverson

3rd- Grant Davies

TCR FWD

This is another class that is growing in popularity with a control motor and ESC coupled with realistic looking scale hatch body its such a fun class to watch and drive in. Nic Michaelides was too strong all day with his MTS FFv3 taking TQ and winning all the races. All the drivers were running Xpress chassis with a very close 2nd between Shane Ricketts and Grant Davies being beaten by .2 sec on countback

1st- Nic Michaelides

2nd- Shane Ricketts

3rd- Grant Davies

21.5

Shane Ricketts had a very slippery Xray T4 and won most of the races but was challenged by first time Geelong racer Dino Dimarco and Matt Durbidge newly built Destiny finished 3rd.

1st- Shane Ricketts

2nd- Dino Dimarco

3rd- Matt Durbidge

13.5

New Team Powers driver Joel Rickets has been putting in a lot of track time to fine tune his Xray X4 and TP electronics and it has paid off! Stepping up a class to 13.5 and immediately making his presence felt with great speed and car setup. Luke Gunnel also stepped up from 21.5 and was having great, clean racing with Joel and finished 2nd. Nic Michaelides had the new 22 Spec MTS T3M and was trying to find a good setup and was off the pace.

1st- Joel Rickets

2nd- Luke Gunnel

3rd- Nic Michaelides

You cant beat a smile like this!
